In To The Blue

Prologue

Labyrinth System
USS Traveller finding the ocean world

The USS Traveller was chasing a pirate vessel through the Labyrinth System. The pirate ship had tried to slip passed and escape into the radiation sources and strong energy fluctuations cloude which made up the system wide nebula. With the Traveller in persute followed the fleeing pirate ship deep into the nebula. While exchanging weapons fire the pirate ship hit and crashed into an uncharted ocean world and sunk into the deapths.

New Beginning

The USS Serenity slipped its moorings and moved out of its dry dock. Its first mission with a new crew and a new Captain, Lieutenant Commander Bill Grayjoy. After completing work up trials the Serenity was certified to become added to the fleet roster. After boosting into orbit the Serenity was given its first set of orders to proceeded to the Labyrinth system to investigate the disappearance of a pirate ship into a ocean world. After a quick intake of supplies and a data down load from Earth Spacedock they were on their way to the Labyrinth system.

Taking the Plunge

Ocean World

The Serenity arrived at the Ocean World and relieved the Traveller who carries on her search for more pirates. The crew began scanning the Ocean World to try and find out where the pirate ship had gone but also how the world was formed. From the results of the study it became apparent that there were similarities to the ocean world that was found by the USS Voyager in the Delta quadrant. This ocean world had at the core of the planet was an object which was producing a massive amount to power. What was disturbing was that the pirate ship was along side the object. They were not able to get good readings from orbit so Grayjoy decided to take the Serenity down for a closer look.

Some One Else’s Dinner

Sea Monster

The Serenity made a successful orbital dive into the ocean. After making sure nothing was damaged from the impact with the water Grayjoy ordered a slow descent to the bottom. The sensor sweeps from orbit had already indicated that there was life in the ocean some of it about the size of the Serenity and due to the shock wave that was produced from their orbital dive they soon realised that the had caught the attention of the local aquatic life. Some of which were becoming too friendly then Grayjoy would have licked. After increasing the rate of descent and a couple non lethal phasor shots to the ones that did not take the hint they managed to become less interesting and were left alone to continue their descent to the depths below.

Torpedo, Torpedo, Torpedo

Serenity's Torpedo

As the Serenity came closer to the massive power reactor, the pirate vessel detached form the power core and began speeding off away from them. Grayjoy sent a message to the pirate vessel to stop and rise to the surface. When then there was no reply he sent the Serenity off in pursuit. They did not want the pirate vessel to escape as it may have valuable information about where the pirate base is in the system. The pirate vessel dived into a valley filled with deep canyons as it tried out run the Serenity. Serenity followed closely trying to squeeze into a deep canyon as the pirate vessel disappeared into it. Then suddenly the pirate vessel emerged from the far end of the canyon. Grayjoy sent the Serenity surging forward after it. Another volley torpedoes was flung towards them. The Serenity drastically changed direction and depth as it launched counter measures and intercept missiles to destroy the incoming torpedoes. As the last torpedo was destroyed Grayjoy fired back at the pirate vessel. The torpedo sped away from the Serenity as it hungrily tracked the pirate vessel. It hit the pirate vessel in the engines with a flash of the explosion and then suddenly dropped into an out of control dive into a deep canyon.

Crush Depth

Pirate Vessel

Grayjoy ordered the Serenity into quickly dive after the out of control pirate vessel. Grayjoy tried to close on the ship knowing that if the pirate vessel did not stop its out of control dive it would implode as the pressure got to high. There was too much debree and silt drifting down from where the battle which was disrupting the transporter lock as well as the power leaking from the massive reactor meant that they were not able to get the crew off the stricken pirate vessel. As the Serenity closed the distance she fired a set of grappling cables. Grayjoy was trying to grapple the pirate vessel so that it could pull the vessel back to the surface. The pirate vessel fired again at the Serenity as it closed, Grayjoy ordered evasive manoeuvres to reduce the damage from the pirate’s weapon fire. The Serenity pulled up getting some distance from the pirate vessel as the damage it had inflicted was dealt with. By the time the Serenity got the flooding under control and began to descend, the pirate vessel suddenly imploded with a flash of light and then a powerful explosion as the pirate vessel structural integrity failed.

Salvage Expert

Wreck or the Pirate Vessel

The Serenity slowly dropped down to the wreckage of the pirate vessel which had crashed into the floor of the deep canyon. The Serenity floated about 50 feet above the pirate vessel and gave a detailed scan. Grayjoy sent one of the submersible shuttle craft over to the wreckage to try and see if there was anything to find. After an extensive search of the pirate vessel and a close inspection of the computer they were able to account for all the deceased crew and down loaded 60 percent of the computer core. Grayjoy ordered the intelligence section to search through the computer down load as the Serenity ascended and moved towards the massive reactor.
