== Lewis Nymes ==
Lewis Nymes (previously Lewis Gemill) is a Joined Trill serving as CMO with the rank of [[Lieutenant, junior grade]] on the [[USS Dennison]].

== Early Life ==

Lewis Nymes is a joined [[Trill]]. A young doctor, he found his calling in [[Starfleet]] at the urging of his parents and sisters after the forced joining ceremony after a shuttle accident that took the life of his younger sister. As a child, he spent his years travelling around the Federation with this parents, Priscilla and Koren Gemill, and sisters Sellie, Olixia, and Parazia. His parents were both doctors, and offered there services at the various triage centers set up on [[Federation]] planets.

After a serious shuttle accident on Trill, only the process of joining would save Lewis' life, and he was joined with the Nymes symbionte at the early age of 17, and was closely monitored psychiatrically in case of adverse effects. Once he was allowed to leave, he continued his medical training at Medica Universitas on Trill, graduating early thanks to the knowledge his symbionte gave him. Following the completion of his training, he served in various hospitals with a few to a life in Accident and Emergency medicine.

During 2405, the Gemills found themselves heading to Earth to meet up with Parazia, who was due to complete her Starfleet Training as a Fighter Pilot. Lewis was due to meet them there for the family's celebration. Sadly, Tradegy struck as the Breen incursion occurred, forcing the scrambling of the Cadet Fighter Unit, an infamous order as only 2 cadets survived the battle. Sadly for Nymes, his sister wasn't among the two.

Nymes battled with his sense of duty after the tragic loss of his sibling and joined [[Starfleet Medical]] the day of his sister's funeral, with his previous hosts' memories allowing him to fast track most of the training.<br>

He was required to undertake a conversion course in order to practice medicine in the wider [[Federation]], and following the exam results he was sent to the Academy to take General training as a Cadet, arriving at Starfleet Academy (San Fransisco) and being placed under the tutalage of Lt.[[Standorval Thrall]], who put the cadet through his paces with simulations of massive casualties and sleep-deprivation, and general chain of command and tactical excercises. Nymes passed the course, and graduated the Academy at the age of 25.

Nymes wasn't the most social cadet at the Academy, with the medical cadets being separated from the other specialities for the initial training, and the upsets in his private life (the loss of his sister, and the early joining) meant that he was a bit of a loner. His closest friends at the academy were [[James Hudson]], an engineer and [[Jayne Matyn]], a Bajoran doctor who went on the same conversion course. Out of class, Nymes was a member of the Academy's medical fencing team, which regularly competed against the other teams; he also dabbled in games of chess, his experienced host memory allowing him to succeed. Nymes was also a member of "The Wandering Minstrels" - a campus Jazz band with [[James Hudson|Hudson]] and [[Ensign]] [[Elenor Night]].

Ensign Lewis Nymes started his first tour of duty as Assistant CMO on the Indefatiguable Class [[USS Dennison]], serving under Captain [[Madison Davis]]. His initial CMO was Admirial [[Gr'iann]]. Also serving in the medical staff is Petty Officer [[Dylan Hedges]], a member of the Night shift. He was promoted to [[Lieutenant, junior grade]] and CMO on Stardate 2407.02.14 by the Captain.

His first day on board was an eventful one, involving the final medicals of all transfering staff, including the wary Lt. [[Khran]], Ensign [[Dale Bracken]], and the late-arriving Ensign [[Ash Divay]]. Prior to the Senior Staff meeting, Dr Nymes was called to treat a crewman for spacesickness, an afflictation that his late sister suffered from. The doctor was unable to determine whether the illness was caused randomly or aggravated by a Dennison technical fault, a possibility that Lt. [[Jewort Trewe]], as CSO, wasn't thrilled about.

The ACMO was present during the initial mission on the holodeck, and was the attending medical officer when [[Ensign]] [[Ash Divay]] had a flashback episode to his training. Since the holodeck mission, the doctor has been trying to determine the source of [[Ash Divay]]'s episode, and has even contacted the secretive [[Commander]] [[Falkirk]], the CMO of the young ATAC/SEC officer during training, who was not impressed by the knowledge that the trill had of the incident.

====Mission: Dealing with the Enemy====

[[Ash Divay]] called in the first Medical Emergency on the Dennison, and Lewis Nymes was the Call-doctor, and initially stabilised the patient ([[Alexander Sigursson]]) along with [[Dylan Hedges]], but despite attempts to resuscitate the crewman, failed to revive him. The Doctor is unsure of the motive for the attack, but suspects a sect of [[Humans for Humanity]] were involved. After making his initial report to the Captain ([[Madison Davis]]) he has been working with Lt [[Khran]], Lt [[Nicholas Semme]], Ensign [[Dale Bracken]] and Ensign [[Ash Divay]] to determine the cause of the incident, with mixed results.

Nymes and [[Dale Bracken]] continue to joke around, enjoying thier first tour of duty. The Dennison's Chief of Operations [[William Galway]] has been found with severe phaser burns in 2ndry Engineering by [[Nicholas Semme]] and [[Elenor Night]]. The attacks appear to be linked, and after stabilising his patient, Nymes reported to the Briefing Room with the Captain, [[Madison Davis]] for a senior staff meeting, where it was discovered that the Chief Engineer, [[Ryan Maines]] was AWOL.

The following day, Nymes reported to sickbay, catching up with the status of his patients, and shocked at the arrest of [[Dale Bracken]]. He then reported to the bridge for his morning meeting with the Captain, after talking with the FO, [[Will Banowsky]].  He returned to the sickbay, only to be told by the Admiral that Lt Maines had died. The rest of his morning was taken up with administering to [[Alison Porthells]] who had injured herself to get into sickbay. The crewman injected the doctor with anaesthetic and attempted to assassinate the Caitian Admiral; but Nymes managed to force his way to the office to give the admiral some warning, before falling unconcious.

Nymes continued his covalescence, which progressed slowly, and looked remarkably ill on Valentine's Day. He finally returned to duty for a half duty shift, and following this joined the crew for a icebreaker party in the Holodeck: eventually taking the kareoke stage with [[Elenor Night]] for a bit of a Jazz Party, at which he was promoted to CMO with the rank of Lt. (jg).

Following the party, he set up his new CMO office in sickbay, and talked to [[Commander]] [[Falkirk]] of Fort Bragg once more, again requesting the details of [[Ash Divay]]. After a brief conversation, Nymes once more slumped in pain relating to his illness, only for the power to sickbay to go offline. After setting up a method of communication to the ship, the new CMO went to the Bridge to find out what was going on, eventually being the most senior officer present when the ACSO [[Dale Bracken]] went to the Ready Room to brief the 2O [[Trevan West]], and therefore taking the bridge.

After retrieving system information offered by the duty Ops officer, [[Lieutenant]] [[Stephen Wilson]], Nymes was apprehensive about facing [[Jewort Trewe]] on his return to the bridge. After [[Khran]] turned up, ill, Nymes administered some medication to the TAC/SEC and left the bridge, welcoming the new crewmember aboard. The later medical Emergency involving EO/CPO [[Sammy Ulston]] was to take up a lot of the CMO's time.

After stabilising Ulston, Nymes returned to quarters for a much needed rest, only to be troubled by the memories of his sister, and the traumatic events of her death. Awakening at 0400, Nymes reported for his Bridge shift (part of his new position as CMO) during the current crisis. Commander West called a senior staff meeting at 0900 hours, and called Nymes back for a further discussion afterwards. After a briefing, where the trill doctor was told of the true nature of the spatial anomaly that was bisecting the ship, Nymes was concerned at the Commander's run and gun attitude to the problem, believing a safer alternative was possible. Despite his remonstrations, the plan was run, and the ship and crew exposed to potentially fatal levels of radiation.

In the aftermath, Nymes had to treat Ensign [[Dale Bracken]] on the bridge, and Ensign [[Ash Divay]], Ensign [[Elenor Night]] once they had escaped the holographic prison and eventually PO [[Dylan Hedges]]. Ash Divay reported with severe trauma, and was the second of his patients to undergo an operation that day, and Nymes waited for the CO, FO, A'CEO and Ensign Trew to report in. After treating the crew, including a Crashing EO/CPO [[Sammy Ulston]], Nymes was stripped of his Lieutenant rank, demoted to Ensign, Senior grade, after less than a day. The reasons behind this remain unknown to the trill.

Nymes continues to treat the crew, and the survivors of the Beowulf, in Sickbay. Despite himself, a standard housecall becomes an impromptu counselling session with Lieutenant [[Baryn Myr]]. Following this, Nymes accompanies the betazoid to the Transfer Staff meeting, run by the FO [[Will Banowsky]], and introduces himself to the Beowulf's crew.

The following day, Nymes is notably happier (probably due to his patient Sammy Ulston being much better) and conducts the transfer physicals, meeting first with TAC Liason Lt-Cdr Loyola.

== Family ==
Lewis Nymes (previously Lewis Gemill) is the son of Priscilla and Koren Gemill and has 2 surviving sisters; Sellie and Olixia. His youngest sister Parazia was killed in action during the Breen Incursion.
