The Shedai Wanderer was an alien device that contained an Alien Mind of an unknown age. The Device was located on the planet Ravanar IV, and was discovered by the USS Bombay in 2265. It destroyed the Bombay and all hands thinking that it was being invaded. The device's purpose was to oversee and protect a number of planets in the Reach, specifically, the planets Erilon, Kessik IV, Pacifica, and Ravanar IV. These planets were initially colonies of the device's creators. For some unknown reason the device went into a state of hibernation until it was awakened by the intrusion of the Bombay.
The wanderer was also responsible for the destruction of the Federation Colony at Kessik IV
It is unknown who built the wanderer or how ancient it is. It was destroyed by the crew of the USS Enterprise when it attempted to destroy that vessel. All technology was lost in it's destruction.
Mirror Universe[edit]
The existence of the Wanderer remained unknown in the Mirror Universe. It remained in hibernation and has not yet been discovered, despite the fact that the planet is now a Klingon Colony world.
