In 2408 The USS Rosenante made contact with the notorious Orion Privateer and Slaver, Doyle "Dogface" O'Banyan. A Major rival of Morella's O'Banyan came to play an instrumental role in the recovery of the Cartenian Prince Angor Khamal.

For his role in the prince's recovery, O'Banyan, a deserter from the SFMC was granted anmesty. He was later recruited by Khamal to head up a specialized intelligence division for the Cartenian Commonwealth against the Orion Syndicate.
