Hamish McDonald comes from a long line of McDonalds who have been Naval Engineers all the way back to before space flight. Both his parents were in Federation Naval Patrol and his mother worked for R&D

Graduated from Glasgow University in engineering and applied to Federation Naval Patrol academy and follow tradition and become an engineer.
2371.09.01 Graduated from Federation Naval Patrol academy as an seaman and was assigned to the engineering department of the FNPS Sea Eagle.
2380.06.08 Transferred to FNPS Stringray and promoted to Petty Officer 3rd Class.
2394.07.10 Transferred to FNPS Killer Whale and promoted to Petty Officer 2nd Class.
