A few of us have been using the Freedom chatroom.

It's an on-line room where we can turn up and chat to others in the game. Some of you may already know about IRC (Internet Relay Chat) but if you don't then now's your chance to find out how much fun it is!

We thought it might be a good idea to reinstate the weekly meetings that used to take place, so for the next few weekends at least we will be there at 1800 GMT/UTC and 2300 GMT/UTC. Equivalent times for other time-zones can be found below.

There are two ways you can join in. The easiest is to access one of the on-line clients, since that doesn't involve downloading anything onto your computer.

To chat via web :

Java client: http://www.esper.net/pjirc/index.html (For those with no firewalls)

CGI client : http://www.esper.net/publicirc.html (For those with firewall/proxy issues)

The other way is to download IRC client software (available free!) and the two most common are mIRC and pIRCh. Try googling them. Or if you have Trillian, install the IRC patch.

Via mIRC or other IRC client : Default is : windows.esper.net

You can get a full server list to find one closer to you at http://www.esper.net/servers.html

Once you've connected, type

/join #startrek_freedom

and start chatting to whoever is there.

If you need any help getting there, let me know and I'll do my best to advise!

The chatroom is open at any time although you may not always find anyone in there. But try dropping by at different times, or arrange to meet a few people there :)

Equivalent times in other zones for the weekly meeting are:

If you're still confused then here are two useful websites which will help you convert UTC/GMT to your local time:
