Nara was a Starfleet Medical Officer that served during the late 24th century, but tragically died before her time.

Personnel Profile

Service Record

Pre-Starfleet History

Much of Nara's life is still shrouded in mystery, but what is known is that she moved to ShirKahr, on Vulcan, from an unknown location in early 2338. She first became interested in the field of medicine in early 2343, when, at the very young age of 12, an earthquake hit her city, and her life was saved by a young doctor. Feeling indebted to him, she decided then to devote her life to medicine. In 2371, she applied and was accepted to the Medical School at Starfleet Academy, when she was 36.

Academy Life

Having to stay at the Academy for 8 years to secure her doctorate degree in Exobiology, she did her best to stay in good spirits throughout the regimented lifestyle. This came to a peak when, in 2375, she met and befriended a freshman by the name of Matthew Brownlee. This friendship blossomed into a romance, and by the time of graduation, the two were engaged.

Career After the Academy

Nara graduated in 2379, and was married during the layover between the commencement ceremony and the first assignments. Much to the young couple's great joy, they were assigned to the same station, Starbase Eridani. Because of this, they were able to spend their off-duty time together, and approximately one year after their stationing there, Joran was born.

Soon after, Nara recieved a promotion to full-grade Ensign, and both were stationed on the USS Vanderbilt (NCC-71453). With the promotion, she became an Assistant CMO and now had more authority.

In early 2382, they both recieved promotions and were reassigned to the Boston Shipyards, in orbit around Earth. They, however, were able to live in an apartment on the surface. Soon after, Nara gave birth to their second son, Christian. However, there were many complications with the birth, and Nara died soon after.

Medical Record

For most of her life, Nara had been the picture of health, and her death in childbirth was a complete mystery. Though her pregnancy was considered high risk, she got the best care possible, and doctors were confident that there would be no complications with the birth. They were wrong. The attending doctors did their best, but they were only able to save Christian. They made her as comfortable as possible, but she eventually succumbed.

Matthew and Nara met by chance one day at the Academy, and struck up a friendship. Over time, however, they saw each other less and less as friends, and more and more as lovers. One night, out on a visit to Zefram Cochrane Memorial Park in Montana, Matthew proposed marriage, and she gladly accepted him. They had a very successful marriage, until her death in 2382.

Psychological Profile

Under the emotionless Vulcan surface, Nara harbors a completely different, passionate personality.

Hers is the first shoulder everyone runs to cry on. She appears nurturing and compassionate, like the mother hen of her circle of friends and loved ones. Though she may not actually have the patience for it, she can expect that others will open up to her when they need a little maternal advice. On the other hand, she sometimes comes across as overly emotional and manipulative. Since she seems so maternal and soothing, she uses this quality to comfort those who seem to need a sense of security.

She is also very exacting. She is forever the butt of jokes for being so picky and critical, but her 'attention to detail' is for a reason: to help others. She is industrious, methodical and efficient. The sense of duty borne by her is considerable, and it ensures that she will always work for the greater good. Some might consider her repressed, although she would argue that it's a noble quality, as opposed to a negative one. Most of all, Nara enjoys indulging her practical and logical side and poring over their projects to the nth degree. To say she is good at fact-finding almost understates the case, since she revels in her exacting (some would argue pedantic) behavior and is a whiz with minutiae. She is an asset in the workplace as she can be counted on to get things right the first time, every time -- and no detail will be overlooked.
