Braak is a Ferengi Merchant doing business on Starbase 989, which is located on the edge of the Beta Quadrant between the Romulan Star Empire and the United Federation of Planets.

Braak is the owner of an establishment known locally as Braak's Bar, a place of questionable business practices and a perpetual hotspot between Starfleet officers and the less reputable individuals who frequent there.

In 2413, Braak reported an incident to Lieutenant Krawl the stations First Officer stating that Starfleet officers had trashed his establishment. Krawl dismissed his claims since he had heard nothing from the station's security chief about the incident.

Later after Captain Joseph Taylor was found murdered in his quarters, Braak became a suspect. It was believe that Braak was unhappy with several restrictions and fees that Taylor had placed upon the importation of certain drinks and produce for Braak's Bar.

Braak also owned his own Freighter the Investor which he crewed with his business partners Nosh, Bal, and Zyn.
