The Boudicca has been ordered to track and intercept an enemy Keltoi ship, the USS Dracul. Together with the USS Witchfire (a Defiant-class) and the USS Thermopylae (a Prometheus-class) as escorts, the Boudicca begins her search. In order to search a wider area, the three ships split up, remaining in contact.
The Boudicca has just arrived at Mobile Shipyard #6, where she will undergo much-needed repairs.


Several days into the search, the Boudicca received a distress call and went to answer it. They arrived just in time to beam aboard three refugees from Vulcan. Tardek (a former Starfleet officer and now a professor at the Vulcan Science Academy), his wife T'len (also a teacher at the Science Academy) and Sovak, Tardek's assistant. Tardek and his companions fled Vulcan as Doenitz's forces invaded, bringing with them a prototype device that Tardek was most anxious should not fall into the hands of the enemy. They were pursued by the sovereign class USS Exeter, and a Ferengi vessel also anxious to obtain whatever it is that Tardek has with him.
Several officers and crew have been transferred off the ship to replace crew lost on other ships of the fleet, and the Boudicca has in turn received a new AOPS, Ens(jg) Skeel Moctatso.


The Exeter's captain ordered his ship to attack and on damaging some of the Boudicca's systems, managed to beam an attack force aboard. The invaders have now been repelled or captured, although not without considerable damage to the ship and its crew.
The staff and some of the crew have transferred temporarily to the Miranda class Kitty Hawk. The rest of the crew will remain behind and assist with the repairs to the Boudicca. The Kitty Hawk is about to leave on a search and rescue mission after receiving a distress call from Colonel Eva Straton, the Boudicca MCO.


The Exeter has destroyed the Ferengi vessel and is turning her attention to the Boudicca.
Little do the crew know what awaits them on the strange planet Eva's shuttle crashed on...
 
The Thermopylae and the Witchfire are making their way with all speed towards the Boudicca, but will they get there in time?
